The Government of Andhra Pradesh has finally decided regarding the reopening of schools across the state from 2nd November 2020. Meanwhile, the state government will hand out Jagananna Vidya Deevena kits to the students on 5th October. Each kit comprises cloth for 3 pairs of uniforms, notebooks, textbooks, a pair of shoes, a belt, a school bag, and two pairs of socks.

The authorities from the chief ministers’ office have informed the news about the distribution of kits to the children. By disseminating these kits next month, the students will get enough time to stitch their uniforms by the time schools reopen. Previously, the AP Government has planned to reopen schools from 5th October. Still, the authorities have deferred the reopen dates due to the COVID-19 pandemic across the state. During the Spandana video conference organized on Tuesday, the Chief Minister of AP, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has disclosed the news.

Chinna Veerabhadrudu, the Commissioner, School Education said, ‘It (the reopening) is tentatively scheduled from November 2.’ The Education Minister of the state, Adimulapu Suresh stated that the Government made this decision considering the prevailing conditions across the state due to the coronavirus crisis. He further said that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the AP CM is likely to visit a school on the day of distribution of the kits.

The CM instructed the authorities to emphasize wrapping the Nadu-Nedu scheme’s 1st phase of works as soon as possible. As part of the scheme, English as a medium of instruction will be rolled out to students from 1st to 6th classes in state-run government schools. In the initial phase, 15715 schools were recognized. In these schools, a total of 10 facilities will be rendered to the students and the staff as well. As of now, out of a total of 15715 schools, the works are in progress across 15562 schools. The works are yet to begin in the remaining 153 schools.

As per the reports from the officials, the slab work is yet to be finished in 701 toilets. The CM instructed all the officials to finish the works at the earliest. Apart from distributing the kits on 5th October, the CM also announced that the Government will be distributing RoFR pattas to the tribals in and across 35 allotted zones on 2nd October marking Gandhi Jayanti. The officials were directed to shift 27564 Anganwadi centers into permanent buildings from the rental spaces. Still, there are 12826 centers for which the suitable lands aren’t recognized.
