Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education [GBSHSE] has delayed the 10th class exams and HSSC Exams as a result of coronavirus. Earlier, the board has scheduled to organize the class 10 exams for the applicants from 2nd April 2020. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the board has decided to postpone the schedule. As per the latest update, the board will release the revised datesheet soon on the official website.
Besides postponing the class 10 exams, the board has cancelled the 12th board exams. Just 3 papers are remaining for the 12th class students. The board intended to reduce the spread of fatal coronavirus by cancelling the 12th exams. The exams of class 8 students are also cancelled as a preventive step to the rise of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vandana Rao, Goa Education Director issued a circular intimating to the students regarding the exams for 9th to 11th classes. The circular says that the exams for the classes between 9 and 11 will be organized according to the timetable. The board has already asked the respective schools to set at least 1 meter apart between each student’s seat.
As of now, no single case of a COVID-19 patient has reported in Goa state. However, the state’s officials have already started following the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. They have started following various social distancing steps in different places like schools, pubs, gyms, and more. Several states across India such as Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Punjab have postponed their 10th, 12th and state-level board exams.
CBSE also deferred the 10th and 12th board exams as well as the evaluation until the completion of the nation’s lockdown. As per the latest update, the Central Government has announced the lockdown of the nation for 21 days.
