The Chief Minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant made an official announcement regarding the 10th and 12th class exams to be organized after 17th May 2020. The official notice has been issued recently i.e., on Monday. The Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Goa [GBSHSE] will hold the board exams for 10th and 12th class students post the nationwide lockdown.
Previously, the officials of the Goa board have deferred the exams in March 2020 to prevent the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Goa. Due to the ongoing lockdown and the rapid spread of the coronavirus crisis, the board has postponed all the board exams. Recently, the Goa Chief Minister said that the Government had thought of a plan to conduct the board exams whilst following the social distancing rules.
He further said that it is not possible to conduct the exams as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Vandana Rao, the education director issued a circular on 20th March 2020. The circular says that the exams will be deferred until the subsequent orders are received from the higher authorities. Later she said that the 9th to 12th class exams that were scheduled to begin from 21st March is postponed till the subsequent orders.
Speaking about the situation currently, on Sunday, i.e., 3rd May 2020, the Chief Minister of Goa, Sawant said that several people from different states are seeking to reach Goa i.e., to the green zone. Even, few of them have made an appeal to the locals for offering them shelter. As per the instructions of the Goa CM< the outsiders who have medical emergencies and other critical cases would be permitted to enter the state.
