The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB] has deferred the GUJCET exam date considering the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi and samvatsari festivals. The announcement regarding the postponement of the entrance examination was made on Tuesday. Earlier, the officials have scheduled to hold the GUJCET exam on 31st March. Due to the nation-wide lockdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the authorities had postponed the exam schedule. The exam date was rescheduled to 30th July and it was once again deferred to 22nd August 2020.
Now, the board officials have once again delayed the GUJCET exam to 24th August 2020. But, this time, it’s because of the popular festivals in the state. This year, about 125781 students have registered for the entrance exam. Out of them, 49888 applications were from the students of the medical stream. The remaining 75519 registrations were from non-medical students. About 374 candidates have applied for both the medical and non-medical streams. GUJCET is a state-level entrance examination organized by GSHSEB.
The board holds this entrance examination to provide admissions into various Engineering, Degree and Diploma Pharmacy courses across various Government, self-financed and grant-in-aid institutes in the state. After holding the exam at the allotted exam venues, the students can access their results online. Based on the final merit acquired in the test, the concerned authorities will provide admission into various courses across the Government and other colleges in Gujarat.
