The Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar announced that the schools across the state will be reopened after 15th August 2020. This news came after the official announcement of HRD Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal about reopening the schools. Previously, the Haryana government had planned to reopen schools across the state from 1st July 2020.
The education minister of the state, Kanwar Pal announced that the schools will be reopened from July commencing with classes 10, 11, and 12. In the next phase, the classes for 6 to 9 will be started. Finally, the government will start the classes for 1 to 5 standard students. As per the latest announcement, the schools across Haryana state will run with only 50 percent of students’ strength after reopening. This decision has been made to maintain proper social distancing measures in schools.
The state education minister said, ‘In a class of 30 students, 15 will come in morning and 15 in the evening or on alternate days.’ After knowing the government’s decision on reopening the schools, the parents declined to send their children to school due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, COVID-19 cases have been increasing exponentially across different parts of the nation. Recently, India surpassed the UK and stood in 4th position for being the country with the highest number of active cases.
Some of the parents took to microblogging website to raise their objection against reopening schools in the state. As the current situation of the state isn’t safe for the kids to go to schools. Few of them don’t want to risk the lives of their innocent kids. As of now, the government has planned to reopen the schools after 15th August 2020. After knowing the new decision, some of the parents are relieved. However, some of the parents are still worried that India is fighting a perilous coronavirus outbreak and the situation is extremely serious.
During an interview, the HRD Minister said that the schools and educational institutes in the country would be reopened likely after 15th August 2020. Even, the results of the exams that were organized before lockdown or after lockdown would be declared by 15th August.
