Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education [HPBOSE] has planned to introduce 15 new vocational subjects for classes 9 to 12 in the state from this year. The board has made this decision to render new jobs for vocationalisation of school education in a 2-year system for 9th and 10th classes. On the other hand, the same will be introduced for the 11th and 12th classes under the National Skill Qualification Framework [NSQF].
As per the latest reports, the initiative of new vocation courses for 9th and 11th students will commence from the current academic session 2020-21. The Pandit Sunder Lal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education, Bhopal will prepare the syllabus for the 15 new subjects. The board has come up with this initiative specifically for the exclusive vocational jobs in different fields. Some of them include healthcare, media, tourism, plumber, IT, ITS, beauty and wellness, electronics, and more.
For 9th class students, the new subjects include field technician, home health aid, paddy farmer, data entry operator, unarmed security guard, automotive service technician, assistant beauty therapist, and sewing machine operator. For the 11th and 12th class students, the board has planned to introduce some advanced subjects in the last year. Moreover, those subjects will be in the same field. Such students may acquire jobs in various roles that include tour guide, junior software developer, floriculturist, sales associate, beauty therapist, and more.
Due to the ongoing lockdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the education board of the state has announced summer holidays for the students till 31st May 2020. Some of the 12th class exams in the state that are pending include Yoga, Geography, Computer Science, and Physical Science. The board has planned to conduct only the Geography examination.
