One of the officials from the IIT-Kharagpur Institute advised the students to register for summer internships in the respective departments. On Saturday, the official has come up with this latest announcement. As per the announcement, the ambitious candidates have the feasibility to contact the companies that provide online internships. Due to the nation-wide lockdown, the institute took this decision.
This year, i.e., from April to July, the IIT Kharagpur students will join the internships. Professor Debasis Deb, the Dean of Undergraduate Studies said, ‘We are allocating students to work as interns in ongoing projects in the institute.’ A placement task force has been initiated by the officials of IIT-Kharagpur to tie-up with multinational companies.
With this tie-up, the institute has planned to make sure that the placement opportunities will be stable despite the COVID-19 pandemic. The corresponding authorities of the institute have posted a tweet informing the same on the micro-blogging website. In the academic year 2019-2020, the institute has witnessed a total of 1306 placement opportunities for the candidates.
In the tweet, he further posted that none of the placement offers has been cancelled amid the coronavirus outbreak. The Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur pushed back the summer vacation to the students. As per the announcement, the summer holidays for the students begin from 1st April 2020. This decision has been made due to the perilous coronavirus pandemic. The Professor also said that the institute has been conducting online classes since 24th March 2020.
Intending not to disturb the academic year of the students, the officials of IIT-Kharagpur took this decision. By conducting the digital classes to the aspirants, the institute can wrap up the classes as per the correct academic schedule.
