IIT Delhi has deferred the JEE Advanced 2020 intending to evade the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak. Earlier the officials have decided to conduct the Joint Entrance Exam Advanced 2020 on 17th May. The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is the institute that conducts the JEE Advanced to all the aspirants. The institute officials will decide the revised schedule after the completion of JEE Main 2020.
Even the JEE Main examination was deferred because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This exam was earlier scheduled to organize in April 2020. The JEE Main exam was planned to organize from 5th April to 11th April 2020. The revised schedule will be declared after the completion of the lockdown period i.e., after 15th April.
On 1st April, the National Testing Agency [NTA] announced that the JEE Main will be organized in the last week of May. More than 9 lakh students across the nation have applied for the JEE Main 2020 exam. JEE Advanced is an entrance examination organized for all the aspirants to provide admissions into various UG courses in IIT.
As the JEE Main exam was postponed it is quite obvious that the JEE Advanced 2020 will be delayed. The candidates who secure the top 250000 ranks in the JEE Main exam merit list will be eligible for JEE Advanced 2020. Due to the postponement of JEE Main to the last week of May, the JEE Advanced will be conducted consequently.
On Wednesday, the Union Human Resource Development Minister conducted a meeting via video conference. A total of 23 IIT directors participated in the video conference.
