The State Government of Karnataka decided to reopen various educational institutions from 17th November 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all the Engineering, Diploma, and Degree colleges were closed at the beginning of the year. The Government made this decision on Friday. C N Ashwath Narayan, the Deputy Chief Minister said, ‘In a meeting that took place under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister it was decided to reopen degree college from November 17. Engineering, diploma, and degree colleges will all start.’
After conducting the meeting, the deputy CM spoke to the reporters. He said that the candidates can use an option to either attend the classes physically or via online mode or can prefer blended learning by accessing both options. Mr. Ashwath Narayan further said, ‘Students can register online, those students wanting to attend classes by coming to colleges should have consent from their parents. Depending on the strength- how the classes have to be held, in how many batches- everything will be decided along with all the necessary safety SOPs.’
Ashwath Narayan is also the in-charge of the Higher Education Department. He said that all the essential safety measures will be taken for the students who will reside in OBC, SC/ST, and social welfare hostels. The concerned authorities will provide the necessary transport arrangements to conduct the classes smoothly without any issues. BS Yediyurappa, the Chief Minister headed the meeting that comprises the officials from social welfare, finance, education, health, backward, and transport departments alongside Narayan related to the commencement of classes in degree colleges.
