The Education Minister of Karnataka, S.Suresh Kumar announced that the previously postponed SSLC and PUC exams won’t be conducted in April. The number of coronavirus cases has been increasing at a rapid pace in the country. Due to the ongoing lockdown across the nation amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Karnataka government has come to this decision.
The Secondary School Leaving Certificate and Pre-University Certificate exams were earlier postponed in April. The Education department of Karnataka hasn’t commenced the SSLC exams this year due to the lockdown. On the other hand, one paper of the PUC exam is leftover. Instead of April, the board exams of SSLC and 2nd PUC were announced to be organized in May 2020.
The concerned officials have announced that the revised schedule of the board exams will be informed at least 7 days before the exam. That particular amount of time will be adequate for the students to prepare for the postponed board exams. As per the sources, the lockdown will be lifted after 14th April 2020. Still, the Government has postponed the exams to May.
Originally, the officials of the board decided to conduct the SSLC exams from 29th March 2020. After imposing the lockdown, the exams were deferred until April. Once again, the board has delayed the exams to conduct the same in May. As per the latest report from the education minister, the revised schedule will be declared after lifting the lockdown.
The final exam of PUC i.e., only English paper is yet to be organized to the students. More than 8 lakh students have applied to take up the SSLC board exam this year.
