Maharashtra School Education Department asked all the authorities of primary, secondary, and Zilla Parishad schools to disclose the results of classes 1 to 9 and 11 soon. On Saturday, the education department directed the concerned educational authorities of different schools to declare the results through SMS, online and telephone. In a circular issued on Saturday, the department officials said that they are seeking to make sure that the students get promoted to the next grades post the result declaration.
The Brihanmumbai Association of Heads of Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools asked the Government of Maharashtra to consider the decision once again. The association has asked the Government through an official statement on 3rd May 2020. Further, the authorities said that all the academic records are stored in the school buildings. As a result, it’s not possible to announce the results in the current situation.
Dilshad Thobani, the President of the association said, ‘Should teachers go to schools braving the risk of being maltreated by the police? Moreover, don’t teachers have summer holidays? The department has not clarified the role of examiners of classes 10 and 12 either.’ Previously, the department has announced that the students of classes 1 to 8 will be promoted without any exams to the next standard.
Further, the department has decided to implement the same for 11th class students post the extension of lockdown till 31st March 2020. Even, the last examination paper of the SSC students was revoked. As per the discussions during a meeting organized by the School Education Minister of the state, the department is in talks to commence the 10th class papers evaluation in the districts where there is less risk of COVID-19 pandemic.
