Mizoram University Postponed UG Semester Examination Due to COVID-19

The Mizoram University has postponed the upcoming UG examinations that were scheduled to be organized from Monday i.e. on 10th August 2020. This sudden decision was made on Sunday considering the current pandemic situation in the state. Some of the student bodies and the Council of Mizoram Principals have appealed to the University to postpone the exams. Due to the exponential rise in the active cases of coronavirus pandemic in the state, the University had to defer the Undergraduate exams.

A day before the commencement of the UG examination, the University has released an urgent notification and announced that the UG semester exam won’t be organized between 10th and 14th August 2020 considering the current consequence of the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In some of the locations of Aizawl, the lockdown has been imposed by the corresponding officials.

Mizoram University Postponed UG Semester Examination

The official notice further said that the semester examination will be organized after 3rd September 2020. The official notice also stated that the professional courses such as BOA, BSW, LLB, and other courses won’t be organized between 10th and 14th August 2020. All the exam papers that were scheduled during this period will be moved, as per the latest official notice.

The notice also said that there will not be any sort of the change in the exams organized for the students of MCA and BCA. As per the previous schedule, the exams for the aforesaid courses will be conducted without any change. The two apex student bodies of Mizoram state i.e., Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) and Mizo Students Union (MSU) asked Mizoram University to defer the UG degree exams considering the raise in COVID-19 cases across the state.

On Sunday, the Mizoram Principals’ Council also wrote a letter to the Controller of examination, Mizoram University. They requested the council to revive the decision on holding the upcoming examination. Till Sunday i.e., 9th August 2020, Mizoram state has witnessed 6000000 active cases of COVID-19 pandemic.
