MU IDOL’s Postponed Final-Year Exams to Begin on 19th October

The Institute of Distance and Open Learning [IDOL] announced that the final year and backlog exams will be commenced from Monday i.e., 19th October 2020 via online mode. IDOL is the affiliated institute of Mumbai University. The Institute announced the news regarding the commencement of the exams on Sunday. Earlier, the concerned authorities have deferred the final year and backlog exams due to some technical problems. IDOL is the distance education wing of Mumbai University.

Mumbai University said in a statement that IDOL will hold the exams for its 21 courses, in general. Out of the total courses, the exams for only 17 courses will be conducted on Monday. The statement further reads, ‘The third-year BA and BCom exams will start online from October 26. Second-year MA exams will be held online from November 2 and second-year MCom exams will be held online from November 6. Practice exams for this exam will be held soon.’

It holds the backlog exams for all the students on Google forms in the presence of IDOL teachers. The backlog exams will be conducted on 19th, 20th, and 21st October 2020. One of the senior authorities from the University stated, ‘Only a few hundred students will be appearing for the backlog exams, so IDOL teachers will be conducting the exams on all three dates on Google forms. Exams for fresh candidates, including TYBCom, TYBA as well as MCom and MA will be conducted by the new service provider.’

Due to some technical issues, more than 9000 TYBCom and TYBA students from IDOL and other MU disciples didn’t take up the paper on 7th October 2020. A few days later, IDOL had rescheduled the exam dates as thousands of students hadn’t appeared for the exam. On the same day, the University said in a statement blaming the errors on a cyber attack on the examination software. Later, the varsity hasn’t announced any sort of news regarding the issue.

To organize exams for IDOL, Mumbai University has engaged a new technology partner. It is a Pune-based Edtech firm Splashgain Technologies and its platform Eklavvya utilizes remote proctoring. This Edtech company has already organized various online exams for many affiliated institutes in Mumbai.
