New Academic Calendar for Classes 6 to 8 Launched by Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal

The Education Minister or Union HRD Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has launched a new alternative academic calendar for 6th to 8th class students. This new alternative academic calendar is an extension of the calendar released for classes 1 to 5. The HRD Minister disclosed the academic calendar for the primary students of classes 1 to 5 on 2nd July 2020.

The new academic calendar issued for 6 to 8 classes comprises subject-wise instructions for 8 weeks. It also includes in-depth guidelines on accessing various social media tools and technology for educational purposes. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the teachers can endure teaching by using various social media tools. The National Council of Educational Research and Training [NCERT] has designed and developed the new alternative academic calendar for the upper-primary classes.

The HRD Minister has made this announcement through his official micro-blogging website. The tweet reads, ‘Alternative Academic Calendar for upper primary stage (Classes VI to VIII) for four weeks was released earlier. I have launched the academic calendar for the next eight weeks today.’ He further added, ‘This Calendar contains detailed guidelines for teachers on the use of technology & social media tools to impart education while the students are at home.’

The calendar has been designed to strengthen the students, teachers, parents, and school principals in dealing with COVID-19 through positive ways. The minister said that the students and teachers can utilize online teaching-learning resources to accomplish the best potential learning results. The calendar released for primary class students will be disseminated via various DTH channels.

The students can access the same via video conferencing with SCERTs, Directorates of Education, SCERTs, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, CBSE, State School Education Boards, and more. Stay tuned to this website to get more education news and the latest updates.
