The officials of the Union HRD Ministry have started preparing detailed instructions that all the educational institutions must follow after they reopen. In the mid-March, all the educational institutions across the country were shut due to the nationwide lockdown. The Central Board of Secondary Education has been planning to rationalize the academic curriculum. The Chairman of the Board, Manoj Ahuja said that the reduced syllabus will be prepared in a month.
The Chairman took part in a virtual conference organized by Ashoka University, During the conference, he said, ‘We cannot bring sudden changes in the education system and create confusion and uncertainty. The curriculum reforms are going to be in sync with the learning outcomes.’ He further said, ‘We are rationalizing the curriculum. We plan to retain the core elements, which are very necessary in terms of learning outcomes.’
Sisodia said that at least 30 percent of the syllabus must be reduced for all grades of students and subjects. The major focus should be on learning and understanding capabilities rather than wider dissemination. Unless and until the teachers are prepared for a fundamental change, no one can anticipate it in the education and examination system, said Sisodia.
He further added that teachers must be highly aware of the innovative practices that are going in the education system across the world. By initiating new methods of learning and teaching, one can gain more knowledge on this right from the school level. Get to know the latest educational news and other updates on this website.
