At the time of the hearing, the apex court previously asked the University Grants Commission [UGC] not to release the academic calendar till 24th September. However, later they told that the calendar has been disclosed. Considering the academic calendar, the apex court asked an explanation from the UGC and it must be given on Thursday. It also directed the UGC to place the academic calendar on record.

The bench at the apex court comprises Justices Sanjiv Khanna and A M Khanwilkar. They said, ‘Don’t give us vague dates. Give us the date and time when it was released. Whether it was after the order, before the order, or when the matter was being heard. We will examine that.’ The bench published the matter on 24th September and also asked both UGC and CBSE to coordinate so as to accommodate about 2 lakh candidates giving the compartment exams.

To evade a year loss for the students, CBSE needs to disclose the results early. UGC must give a chance of taking admission in colleges. This is one version argued in the apex court. The counsel for CBSE said that it will take at least 3 to 4 weeks to declare the compartment exam results. The apex court told the CBSE to fix some date so that UGC can proceed with the next steps.

The bench said UGC and CBSE to coordinate and fix a cutoff date. The future of two lakh students will fall into risk if there is no coordination between CBSE and UGC. On 10th September 2020, the Supreme Court said that the CBSE would not be able to assist the candidates taking compartment exams for 12th class this month. The reason is that it would be the colleges and universities that will take their admissions for higher studies. Stay tuned to this website to get the latest updates about various educational news.
