The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education [HPBOSE] officially announced summer holidays for all the schools in the state between 18th and 31st May 2020. The officials of the board have decided to provide a summer vacation for the students for about 2 weeks. Further, the concerned authorities of the board have planned to reopen the schools.
As per the latest report, the Indian Government has announced to extend the nationwide lockdown till 31st May 2020. Hence, the state education board has decided to restart the schools post the completion of the lockdown. The concerned board has informed all the government and private schools affiliated to it across the state to follow the instructions related to summer vacations.
The notice sent to the heads of various private schools and institutions reads, ‘As per the decision of the Director, Higher Education, Himachal Pradesh … dated May 16 that there will be a vacation of two weeks with effect from. May 18 to 31, in all government schools all over the state…in all privately managed schools affiliated with this board all over the state.’
Suresh Bhardwaj, the Education Minister of the state said that there are 4994 primary, 32 high school, 1092 middle, and 9 senior secondary schools across the state with less than 20 students’ strength. On the whole, there are about 6127 schools in the state that are running with less than 20 students.
Due to the nationwide lockdown amid the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, the Central Government has directed all the educational institutions to shut down. Since 25th March 2020, the entire nation has been following the lockdown guidelines to curb the further outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Till now, the Government has extended the lockdown for about 4 times. Recently, the PM Modi has extended the lockdown till 31st May 2020 all over the country.
