Schools in Odisha to Remain Close Till June 17 Due to Coronavirus

The COVID-19 cases have been increasing at a rapid pace across the nation. To prevent the further outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the Odisha Government took an effective decision. On Thursday, the State Government has decided to extend the lockdown. The Government also decided to remain the schools closed until 17th June 2020. Odisha has become the first state in the country to extend the lockdown till 30th April 2020.

On Thursday, the Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik officially announced this news after holding a video conference with state cabinet ministers. Intending to eradicate the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic across the state, the Government has come to this decision. During the conference, he said, ‘protecting the lives of people is the topmost priority in this critical juncture.

Schools in Odisha to Remain Close Till June 17 Due to Coronavirus

The Odisha government also decided to appeal to the Central Government to extend the nation-wide lockdown. PM Narendra Modi has decided to end the lockdown by 14th April 2020. Due to the increase in the growth of the coronavirus across the nation, some of the states have planned to extend the lockdown. The Central Government is also seeking to conduct a cabinet meeting and take a decision.

Previously, the Odisha Government has announced that it will promote the students of classes 1 to 9 and 11 to the next standard without exams. As per the current decision, the schools will be reopened only after the lockdown i.e., on 17th June 2020. Meanwhile, the Odisha board has scheduled to organize the plus 2 examinations for the candidates after lifting the lockdown.

In an official circular issued by the council, ‘Notification for conduct of the postponed examinations will be issued after necessary directions received from the government when the situation improves.’ Odisha class 10 board exam results will be disclosed in May. Earlier, the officials have planned to commence the evaluation after lockdown. Hopefully, the board might disclose the 10th results in the last week of May.
