The state government of Odisha stated that the candidates will answer questions for a total of 80 marks in each paper instead of 100 marks in the board exams this year. Out of 80 marks, 50 marks comprise objective-based questions in OMR format [Optical Mark Recognition]. The remaining 30 marks will be subjective, said SR Dash, the School and Mass Education Minister.
The Board of Secondary Education of the state has decided that each paper’s overall valuation will be for 100 marks. The School and Mass Education Minister said that 20 marks will be evaluated based on the percentage acquired by the students from the given 80 marks in a specific exam paper. On Saturday, the Odisha state government stated that the annual board exams for 10th class candidates will be organized between 3rd and 15th May 2021.
Further, the results of the board exams will be disclosed within 45 to 50 days, said the minister. He further added that the state government has already released a notification regarding the reopening of schools for 10th and 11th class students from 8th January 2021. As of now, the students are taking part in online classes. Before the students appear for the board exams, the 10th and 12th class students would be given 100 days of classroom teaching in May, said the minister.
The 10th class students can attend the regular classes at their respective schools from 8th January to 26th April 2021. On the other hand, the 12th class students can attend the classes from 8th January to 28th April 2021, as per the notice issued by the education department of Odisha.
