Tripura Govt to Reopen Schools and Colleges from 1st Dec

Following the Standard Operating Procedure [SOP] of the Ministry of Education, different states such as Andhra Pradesh, Assam, and other states have reopened schools. Now, Tripura has joined the club. The state government of Tripura has announced to resume full-fledged classes to the students across various schools and colleges in a phased manner starting from 1st December 2020.

Ratan Lal Nath, the education minister of the state said that the decision was taken at a meeting organized at the state secretariat yesterday. The minister said, ‘We have decided to reopen class 10 and class 12 in schools and all government degree colleges, technical institutions from December 1. We shall monitor the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation and decide finally.’

He further stated that the classes would be organized with written parental permission while the school and college officials were asked to maintain minimum rush. The vice-chancellors of Tripura Central University and Maharaja Bir Bikram [MBB] University were asked to focus on online practical classes. The decision of reopening the educational institutions would still require to be approved at a meeting scheduled on 27th November 2020.

Later, the education director UK Chakma said that the classes would be reopened with a group of strong guidelines to evade any probability of risking the pandemic. It includes sanitization, compulsory thermal scanning of all candidates, teachers, and other staff, mandatory use of face masks, and social distancing. According to the latest reports, as of now, Tripura has 356 COVID-19 casualties.

The state has a total of 31543 corona patients noticed to date. Out of the total, 95.13 percent of patients have recovered and were discharged from hospitals. On 5th October 2020, Tripura reintroduced the open-air classes, shortly after the state government announced to reopen schools from 9th to 12th classes for students who willingly wanted to attend classes.
