West Bengal Board Announces Class 10, 12 Exams to be Conducted in June

On Saturday, the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education has announced the schedule for the 10th and 12th class board exams. As per the latest exam schedule, the 10th class exams for 2021 will begin on 1st June and ends on 10th June. On the other hand, the 12th class board exams will be conducted starting from 15th June 2021. The concerned authorities of the board have announced the exam timetable and published it on the official website.

The board announced that all the exams will be held with strict adherence to all the essential COVID-19 protocols. One of the officials of the state board said, ‘We have uploaded the details of the schedule for the 2021 Madhyamik (secondary) exams on our website. The examinations will be held with strict adherence to COVID protocols.’ In general, the exams for 10th and 12th class students will be organized between February and March every year. But, this time, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the board had to postpone the exam schedule to June.

The West Bengal government also announced on Wednesday that the secondary and higher secondary 12th class exams will be organized one after the other in June 2021. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, the Union Education Minister previously dismissed the board exams for classes 10 and 12 till February next year considering the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Partha Chatterjee, the education minister of the state said that the COVID-19 pandemic situation in West Bengal is under control as of now. The decision on reopening all the educational institutes across the state will be taken at an appropriate time.

The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education has previously announced the schedule for 12th class exams 2021. However, the officials haven’t asked to organize any exam on 30th June on the eve of ‘Hul Diwas’, said the state education minister Partha Chatterjee on Saturday. Every year, Hul Diwas is observed on 30th June in remembrance of tribals namely Sidho and Kanhu Murmu who led the Santhal hul [rebellion] on 30th June 1855. All the 12th class board exams for the next year will begin on 15th June.

It is well known that all the educational institutions across the state were shut since mid-March due to the nationwide coronavirus pandemic.
