The State Government of Andhra Pradesh has announced the cancellation of SSC and Intermediate Supplementary examinations for 1st and 2nd-year students. During a press conference, the education minister of the state, Adimulapu Suresh has announced the government’s decision on cancelling the class 10 and inter exams. This decision was made due to the exponential rise in the coronavirus cases across the state.
Keeping the health and safety of the students in mind, the government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to call off the board exams. During the conference, the minister said, ‘We have tried our best to conduct the SSC examinations from July 10 and also made changes to the exam pattern to reduce the exposure for the students.’
This year, more than 6.39 lakh candidates had registered for the class 10 exams in the state. All of them were about to take part in the SSC exams that were scheduled from 10th July 2020. Earlier, the education board has planned to organize the SSC exams on 23rd March. Due to the nationwide lockdown amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the government has postponed the exams. But now, the government has decided to cancel the 10th board exams.
The Chief Minister of AP, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also directed the concerned authorities to promote the 10th and inter students without holding exams. The class 10 students will be given grades based on their merit. Further, the results of the SSC students will be declared soon. Even, the students who were failed in the 1st and 2nd-year intermediate exams will be promoted to the next grades without exams.
Recently, i.e., on 12th June 2020, the state education minister officially released the Intermediate results of all the students. A week later, the education minister of Telangana state also disclosed the Intermediate results of the students. After knowing the official announcement regarding the cancellation of exams, some of the students expressed their gratitude. While a few of them weren’t happy with the decision.
