About Board of Intermediate Education – Andhra Pradesh (BIEAP)

The government of Andhra Pradesh has issued a statement that the intermediate education be called as Intermediate Education System (IES)/Junior College System (JCS) and it made its functioning debut from 1969-70, under the control of the Director of Public Instruction (DPI). The Directorate of Intermediate Education was established on 1.11.1989 with the objective of monitoring, co-ordinating, functioning and management of junior colleges both in Government and Private sectors in the state of AP. The intermediate education department aims at administering and controlling of government junior colleges in the state. It also regulates and controls private colleges, but only in certain aspects like issuing grants, auditing accounts etc. The board aims to implement vocational education at +2 level so that more than 70% students transfer to the vocational stream of education. The main objectives of the board include promoting intermediate education in backward, rural and tribal areas to create self employment.

Coming to the board’s constitution, it was established in the year 1971 at Hyderabad. The board was formed to regulate and supervise the system of Intermediate education in the state of A.P. It prescribes the courses of study and also text books for the students studying under it. Currently, BIE offers 2-year Intermediate course for both General and Vocational streams in Science, Humanities, Commerce and in professional streams. The main intention of improving vocational courses is that they are aimed at skill development of the students, which will further enhance the opportunities to get immediate employment or to pursue higher technical education in their stream.  Coming to the functions of the board it grants affiliation to the Intermediate education offering institutions in the state. The board lays down rules and regulations for the administration of junior colleges. The board prescribes qualifications for teachers. It conducts examinations at the end of the academic year and releases results and also issues certificates.

The girls pass percentage is 64% and the boys pass percentage is 56% which means girls dud better than boys. Every year girls are giving better performance than boys.

AP intermediate Revaluation Results 2020

The re-evaluation of answer sheets will be done by the board on the request of the students. The board allows the students to apply for the re-evaluation through online mode.
