The University of Delhi has decided to launch an online education programme namely ‘OneDU’ to provide online teaching to all the departments and colleges affiliated to it. Due to the perilous COVID-19 pandemic across the country, digital teaching and learning have turned out to become an essential element of education. Considering the same, DU has decided to adopt online education in the final semester.
To enhance and harmonize digital education, Delhi University is planning to set up an integrated online platform. DU Computer Centre alongside some other essential resources will provide online teaching and learning platform for all departments, colleges, and other institutes affiliated to the varsity. The OneDU platform helps in generating and distributing e-resources among the students irrespective of the time and place. This helps the students as well as the teaching staff to access their essential resources anytime.
The University issued an official statement saying that this platform is a representation of various teaching and non-teaching groups. Moreover, the online education platform will be organized to increase the capacity of stakeholders. This eventually renders the ability to provide better utilization of online teaching apps.
The official notice further reads, ‘The University has decided to augment and streamline online education by facilitating e-learning support through the Delhi University Computer Centre (DUCC) by creating and integrating online platform and networking resources and facilities for use by all the university departments, centers, colleges, and other affiliated bodies under ‘OneDU’ – online eDUcation flagship programmes.’
In the current pandemic situation across the world, it is highly essential to utilize online resources for teaching and learning. They must become an integral part of education globally. All the students will be taught via different online platforms, stated the notice. Now, the students can access one platform i.e., OneDU that integrates all the essential sources.
The University of Delhi has commenced the admission process currently. For most of the courses, the University has closed the entrance exam application submission dates. The Varsity will consider the merit of each applicant to provide admissions into various courses of each department. For some courses, the application process will be wrapped up by 31st August 2020. As of now, about 3.28 lakh candidates have registered for various UG level courses to acquire admissions into the University.
