The Delhi University told the Delhi High Court that it will hold the final semester exams for all the UG and PG students. Besides the DU students, the final exams will be conducted for the School of Open Learning and Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board students as well. The University has decided to conduct the semester exams starting from 17th August 2020 in online mode [Open Book Examinations, OBE] in remote mode.
As per the latest announcement made by the Delhi University, ‘These examinations shall begin on August 17, 2020, and shall conclude on September 8, 2020.’ On 9th July 2020, the High Court asked the University to register an affidavit by issuing the timetable for final year Undergraduate exams. After receiving guidelines from the High Court, the University announced the fresh schedule for the UG exams.
Considering the current situation of the nation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the University had to delay the exams to 15th August. The High Court asked the DU officials to mention the mode of examination in the affidavit – online, offline, or both. Apart from the detailed schedule, HC asked to include the examination mode in the affidavit to give clarity to the final year students.
The hearing regarding this matter has been listed by the High Court on Tuesday. At the time of the hearing, HC has given directions to the University to hold the final year exams despite the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. As of now, the schedule for the final year students pursuing various UG courses was already released. On the other hand, the timetable for PG courses and other professional courses will be issued soon before 20th July. The date sheet will be made available to the students on the University’s official website.
The statement further reads, ‘For such students who are unable to appear in the examinations in OBE mode remotely, scheduled to begin from August 17, 2020, it has been decided to conduct an additional phase of examinations through online/ offline/ blended mechanism, for the purpose of providing another opportunity to the students.’
This sort of chance has been provided to the students as a one-time measure considering the COVID-19 pandemic. The affidavit also informed the students that the initial phase of mock tests will commence from 31st July. By conducting the mock tests, the students will be accustomed to the new procedures. These exams will be organized until 4th August 2020.
The University will notify the schedule of the mock tests at least a week before the initiation. For more education-related news, just stay tuned to this website – KVPY.ORG.IN.
