GATE Counselling Process 2020 Begins

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is the prestigious entrance examination conducted every year to provide admissions into various PG courses. After holding the GATE exam 2020 and the result declaration, the concerned authorities have commenced GATE Counselling process. The qualified contenders can start the GATE Counselling online registration process. To provide admissions into various master-level courses like M.Tech, M.Des and more, the officials conduct the exam.

Based on the score obtained by the candidates in the GATE 2020 examination, the authorities have initiated the centralised counselling process. The counselling process is also done for the candidates who have written the GATE exam in 2018 and 2019. Those candidates’ score will be considered during the counselling session. After getting through the counselling procedure, the authorities will provide admission to the eligible contenders at various technical institutes. Some of them include NITs, IIITs, IIEST Shibpur and a few Government-funded technical colleges.

GATE 2020 Counselling Process Begins

As per the latest news, the GATE 2020 Online Registration for Counselling has begun on 13th May 2020. The last date for the submission of online applications, fee payment and the entry of web options is 12th June 2020. The online registration procedure is currently active and open for all the qualified contenders of GATE exam. According to the latest notice released by the concerned authorities, the seat allotment list will be published on 17th June 2020. The officials of various IITs or IIMs will release the seat allotment list on the basis of the candidate’s merit and preferred web choices.

The corresponding institute officials will open the seat acceptance window as well as the document uploading schedule window from 17th June 2020. The seat acceptance window will be closed by 20th June 2020. The conducting body authorities have changed the GATE 2020 counselling procedure this year. The aspirants need to participate in the document verification process in online mode. Usually, the authorities will carry out the certification verification session in offline mode at allotted venues.

Due to the ongoing lockdown amid the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the officials have altered the counselling process. During GATE counselling, the aspirants need not go in person for the document verification process this year. Once the candidate is willing to join the allotted college and course, they can take part in the document verification process. The candidates also have an option not to accept the seat allotted by the officials. Whether the candidates are willing to accept the seat or not, the candidates need to inform the same online between 28th and 30th June 2020.

Further, the contenders will carry out the 2nd round of GATE 2020 counselling and issues the second round of seat allotment list by 5th July 2020. On the whole, the concerned authorities will conduct 3 rounds of seat allotment sessions for the GATE qualified aspirants. After the completion of 3 rounds of seat allotment for the eligible candidates, the authorities will conduct 2 special counselling rounds. This situation will come into the picture when there are leftover seats in various institutes.

The special counselling round will commence from 4th August 2020. From 27th July 2020, the conducting body of GATE Counselling will begin the verification of documents. At the same time, the candidates must report at the institute in person. On the other hand, the candidates who acquired a seat through a special round of counselling will start from 24th August 2020.
