Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education [MSBSHSE] has planned to give average marks to the students for the cancelled 10th class Geography exam. It’s a sigh of relief for the students after knowing the latest announcement made by the state board. As per the latest report, marks of 5 SSC papers would be considered while calculating the average marks for the Geography exam.
Previously, the officials had planned to conduct the Geography exam on 23rd March 2020. However, the board officials have cancelled the exam later considering the ongoing lockdown amid COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, the results of 10th class exams are likely to be disclosed in the 2nd week of June 2020. The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education [MSBSHSE] has planned to release the board exam results this year by 10th June 2020.
The latest notice reads, ‘Since the pending Geography paper was cancelled, the board has decided to award SSC students an average of marks obtained in the written examination of other subjects.’ The notice further reads that the same rule will be applied for the vocational subject exam paper for the specially-abled students. As per the official notice, ‘An average of marks obtained in the written, oral, practical and internal evaluation of other subjects will be awarded for the subject.’
This year, a total of 1765000 candidates had applied and appeared for 10th exams in the state of Maharashtra. In April, the Government of Maharashtra announced that it will cancel the leftover Geography exam paper and has executed the same. Following the Government order, the education minister of the state, Varsha Gaikwad said that the remaining Geography paper has been cancelled. The MSBSHSE officials were earlier directed to award marks to the students based on the given guidelines for these subjects.
