Parents Request CM Kejriwal to not Reopen Schools this Academic Year

People across the nation have been still experiencing the impact of the COVID-19 crisis even after initiating the unlock guidelines in India. In recent times, the Government of Delhi has decided to reopen schools after receiving the unlock guidelines from the Central Government. However, almost 2500 parents of children pursuing their education in different Delhi schools have made a representation to the office of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The parents of thousands of students requested Delhi CM not to reopen the schools this academic year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Delhi Parent’s Association comprising 2498 parents sent short inputs and views in an email to the CMO. Most of them stated that they are not convenient for sending their children to schools in the current situation.

Rajeev Arora, one of the parents from Delhi wrote, ‘Schools should be reopened when zero Covid-19 cases are reported for at least 10 days or when a vaccine is available. Else, the government should declare this year as a zero year. Students till Class VIII should be promoted to the next class, and for students of Classes IX to XII, they should conduct some online test.’
