The Government of Punjab has announced that it will promote all the students of classes 5 to 8 to the next class without conducting exams. The State Government took this decision due to the ongoing nation-wide lockdown. On Friday, the Government also declared summer vacations to all the schools across the state. The Punjab Government also extended the lockdown till 1st May to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus.
On the same day, the officials of the Punjab government extended the lockdown and declared summer holidays to the students. Vijay Inder Singla, the Education Minister of the state said that the summer vacation for the students will begin from 11th April and ends on 10th May 2020. Due to the lockdown, the students pursuing education in various schools have lost their academic year.
To compensate for the loss, the Government took this decision. In this one-month summer vacation in the state, the students are advised to stay home and stay safe. In general, the summer vacation will start every year at the month-end. The Minister further said, ‘All private schools should also start vacations from April 11 but they are free to extend the period as per their requirement.’
The 5th to 8th class aspirants of the Punjab School Education Board [PSEB] will be promoted to the next standards. Soon after the completion of the vacation in May, the board probably commences the next academic year. For the 5th class students, there are two subjects left. On the other hand, the 8th class students’ practical exams were leftover. For these classes, the board will announce the result sans organizing the pending exams as per the announcement by the Minister.
