The Government of Assam partially opened schools for the students of classes 9 to 12 on Monday. As per the latest news, the Government has reopened the schools for 9th to 12th class students with two batches per day. For the first batch, the classes will be conducted between 9 AM and 12 PM. The second batch of classes will begin at 1 PM and ends at 4 PM. The Government has clarified that the students who had their parents’ consent are only permitted to attend the classes.
Phanindra Jidung, the Director of Assam Secondary Education said, ‘Today we opened our schools. Today students of Classes 9 and 12 were supposed to come — of course, many parents have not allowed and not given their permission. Tomorrow Classes 10 and 11 will attend.’ As per the reports, the students who attended the classes without wearing masks weren’t allowed to enter the schools.
Some of the teachers stated that the students of each class were again segmented into small groups. Moreover, the seating arrangement of all the students was altered by following the social distancing precautionary measures. Besides Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Mizoram schools were also opened partially for the students of classes 9 to 12. The students of those classes were permitted to visit the school to clarify their doubts and queries regarding the subject. All the students must attend the schools upon taking permission from their parents.
Earlier, the Government of Assam has permitted the teachers and non-teaching staff to work from schools. It also clarified that the students of classes 9 to 12 can continue taking part in online classes if they don’t prefer attending schools. Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Assam have issued SOPs earlier for reopening the schools partially for the students of classes 9 to 12.
