The education minister of Haryana said that all the schools across the state will reopen for 6th to 8th classes students starting 1st week of February 2021. The minister made this announcement on Wednesday i.e., on 20th January 2021. The education minister of the state said, ‘The COVID cases are gradually coming down and the situation has improved. Moreover, the COVID-19 vaccination drive has also begun. So, we have decided to reopen schools for Classes 6 to 8 from February first week.’
Kanwar Pal, the education minister said that a decision on commencing classes 1 to 5 will be made soon. As of now, schools will be reopened only for the students pursuing classes 6 to 8. During the announcement, the minister said that the schools need to follow all the safety-related instructions such as social distancing, face masks, sanitizers, and more. After a long shut down period of the schools in the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the educational institutions in Haryana had partially reopened in mid-September for 9th to 12th class students.
In November, the state government of Haryana ordered the shut down of all schools due to the rise in COVID-19 positive cases. More than 150 candidates from 3 Haryana districts such as Jind, Rewari, and Jhajjar had tested positive for the COVID-19 pandemic in November. Later, all the educational institutions in the state were closed down till the next orders from the government. All the schools across the state had reopened for higher class students in mid-December 2021.
