After a long shutdown period of various educational institutions across the state, the Telangana government has now decided to reopen the schools, colleges, and universities. All the colleges, schools, degree colleges, and junior colleges across the private and government sectors will kickstart from 1st February 2021. The students can attend classroom teaching for 9th class and above students starting from February 1. Still, there are 20 days from now to resume the regular classes in Telangana.
On Monday, the Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrasekhar Rao reviewed the current situation of the state alongside the ministers and district collectors. The state CM announced the reopening of schools from 9th class onwards. KCR said in an official statement that reads, ‘Reopen Classes from 9th standard upwards in all the private and government educational institutions from February 1. Classes should be held for the students of 10th, Intermediate, Degree, and other professional courses.’
For the current academic year 2020-21, the 10th class students and above will appear for the board exams. In the previous academic year, the 10th class exams were cancelled as the High Court ordered the government to promote the students without conducting exams. The state CM instructed the authorities to make sure that all arrangements have been made for reopening the educational institutions in the subsequent 20 days.
He further said, ‘Meanwhile, keep ready hostels, residential schools, and all educational institutions and ensure that the toilets are clean. The Collectors should take the necessary measures to keep the educational institutions clean and hygienic.’ He instructed all the district collectors to make sure that all the necessary COVID-19 precautions are followed before and after reopening the educational institutions. He said, ‘Since the educational institutions are closed for many days, clean the entire premises; ensure that the food grains, essential commodities are not rotten. By Jan 25, keep the educational institutions ready to conduct the classes.’
The CM asked the ministers to visit SC, ST, and BC hostels and check whether it is a precise place to stay or not. All the schools have welcomed the decision of the government and also requested to decide on reopening the schools for nursery to 8th class students soon. On the other hand, some other parents have expressed their distress over the government’s decision and stated that they weren’t prepared to send their kids to school.
