Vodafone India Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility wing of the popular telecom service provider, Vodafone Idea launched a portal that aids marginalized groups to become self-reliant and digitally literate. This foundation has launched the new portal on Wednesday i.e., on 12th August 2020. The newly launched portal namely ‘Digisakshar.org’ has been developed by Vodafone India Foundation in collaboration with IT and business consulting services company CGI and NASSCOM Foundation. The trio has launched the portal during a virtual event.
Intending to make the marginalized communities a part of the digital economy, Vodafone India Foundation has launched DigiSakshar under the ‘Connecting for Good Program’. Besides rendering digital literacy to communities, Vodafone India Foundation said that the self-learning website aids them in providing better employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. This in turn helps the communities to become self-reliant.
This is a free portal that offers more than 40 courses in different languages such as English and Hindi. This portal has been designed and developed specifically for various age groups. It eventually provides basic, intermediate, and advanced knowledge to the people on digital skills. The courses offered through this portal range from basic computer operations, managing mobile phones, accessing internet securely, making digital payments, exploring employment and livelihood opportunities, gaining access to various common and government websites, etc.
The developers of this portal further said that CGI designs and augments self-learning content in copious languages to enhance the digital skills curriculum. Ashok Pamidi, the CEO of the NASSCOM Foundation said, ‘With digital literacy through physical centers taking a huge hit due to the current crisis, Digisakshar hopes to provide a safe online learning environment for Digital Novices to learn new skills.’ Get the latest educational updates like exams, results, digital technological trends and more on this website.
