NEET Eligibility 2020 : Age Limit, Qualification and Qualifying Marks Criteria

National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted NEET 2020 exam has to be qualified by all the aspirants who are willing to pursue medicine.  It is an entrance exam to test the credibility of the candidates and offer them with admissions on successful qualifying of the exam.  In order to apply for the NEET exam, candidates need to satisfy the eligibility criteria as set by the exam body. NEET Eligibility Criteria 2020

NEET exam eligibility criteria pertaining to the entrance exam are given here in detailed form.  The eligibility criteria mainly include the age limit, nationality, educational qualification, pass percentage etc.  Candidates before applying need to go through the criteria and know whether they are eligible to appear for the exam or not.  Candidates need to apply only if they satisfy all the criteria as directed by the authority. Though the applications are submitted by ineligible candidates, the application forms will not be accepted by the authority.  The authority has now allowed the students from the open school too can apply for the NEET exam. NEET is conducted through offline mode i.e., in a paper and paper mode on May 3.

The exam is scheduled to be held in 154 cities across the country.  The application forms for the exam will be accepted starting from December 2, 2019. Age Limit for NEET

  • Applicants of NEET exam belonging to the Unreserved Category (UR) born on or before December 31, 2003 can apply.
  • Applicants of NEET exam belonging to the SC/ST/OBC categories born on or before December 31, 2003 can apply.
  • There is no upper age limit for the exam until the Supreme Court gives its judgment.

Educational Qualification

Educational qualification is also a part of NEET Eligibility 2020.  Students must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology from a recognized board are eligible to apply for the NEET exam 2020.

Qualifying Marks

The marks are not the same for all the categories.  Candidates need to know the aggregate marks of the subjects category wise.

Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes (OBC) candidates must score a minimum of 40% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology in the qualifying examination.

  • UR category – 50%
  • OBC/SC/ST – 40%
  • PWD – 45%

According to NEET Eligibility Criteria 2020, applicants with locomotor disability of lower limbs must have a minimum of 45% marks for General-PH and 40% marks for SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology.

Nationality

  • Applicants should be Indian nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs and Foreign nationals.
  • Candidates need to check with the examination code appropriate for them from the official notification.

Number of Attempts

There is no limit on the number of attempts for NEET exam.  The authority has removed the rule of restriction on the number of attempts.  Candidates can appear for the exam any number of times until they reach the age limit.
