WBJEE Eligibility Criteria 2020 : Nationality, Age, Qualification and Domicile

It is time for the entrance exams in all the states and all the state level exam authorities that are responsible to host the entrance exams are in a hurry right now.  One among them is West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEE) that is all prepared to conduct the entrance exam for the aspirants shortly. Candidates willing to apply for the WBJEE exam should must and should qualify the criteria set by the WB board and check out the important dates scheduled.  Candidates before applying need to check with the criteria and apply only if they have everything as per the stats of the board.  The eligibility criteria mainly include the nationality, age, educational qualification, domicile etc. We suggest the willing applicants of WBJEE to go through the eligibility criteria at least once before applying for the exam.  This will help the candidates now the requirements of the board to sit for the exam. Nationality

Applicants should be the citizen of India.

Age Limit

WBJEE Eligibility 2020 also includes age limit unlike other entrance exams.  WBJEE considers age limit of the candidate as a criteria to apply for the exam.  Applicants applying for WBJEE 2020 must have a minimum age of 17 years as on December 31, 2019.  The candidate should have been born on or before December 31, 2002. There is no upper limit for B.Tech courses except for Marine Engineering.   The upper age limit for this particular course is 25 years as on December 31, 2020.

Academic Qualification

Applicants should have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as main subjects along with any one of Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science/ Computer Application as mandatory subjects.  Candidates must have secured qualifying marks in all the subjects.

Marks Required

The marks required by the candidates to apply for the exam varies from category to category.  Applicants should satisfy the WBJEE 2020 Eligibility Criteria and according to it, the general category candidates should have passed with an aggregate of 45% while the reserved category candidates should have passed with 40% aggregate of marks in all the three subjects.  Students should also have secured at least 30% of marks in English subject in the 12th grade.

Domicile

For the candidate to be treated as the domicile for West Bengal, the candidate should be a resident of West Bengal for 10 years consecutively as on December 31, 2019 or the parents of the candidates should be permanent residents of West Bengal with a permanent residential address in the state.  The residential/domicile requirement for WBJEE 2020 can be checked from the official notification released by the authority. There are very fewer seats available for General categories compared to reserved ones.
